I recruit and oversee a team of junior-level undergraduate psychology major research assistants each academic year. These experiences are designed to assist undergrads planning to apply for graduate school in clinical psychology in the fall of their senior year. In this regard, students must be projected to earn at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA by graduation (usually minimums for clinical Ph.D. programs).

Each of my undergrad RAs are required to be enroll in 3 credits of PSYC 492 or 494 (Individual Projects) for both the fall and spring (6 total credits). My RAs have to be available from Monday to Thursday during the hours of 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Your schedule would be specified from week to week, and my RAs often average less than four days a week. There may be some room for negotiation if you have another standing commitment. I am not able to extend publication credit for your work as an undergrad research assistant in my lab. These projects extend for too long and often involve the contributions of a substantial number of RAs.

I do make myself available, if interested, as chairperson of an honor thesis (PSYC 489) if there was a project that you wished to pursue. An honors thesis project would give you the opportunity to collect and publish your own data as first-author under my direction. The department does stipulate that you would need to have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 to enroll in these credits. You would be required to enroll in 3 credits in both the Fall and Spring semester. You would propose your project to a committee of two faculty members in the Fall, and defend your analysis later in the Spring semester. Honor Theses are valuable as a credential when applying to graduate school.

If you are interested in being a research assistant and/or completing an honor's thesis just email your request (alan.king@und.edu). I'll determine if I am able to accommodate either request. If accepted, you will be provided with permission number(s) for enrollment for the upcoming semester.
